Emily Jones

Emily is a member of Go's Distributed Energy Resources team, evaluating renewable energy, demand response, energy storage, and grid interactive technologies to inform and guide our clients toward their goals.

Emily received a Bachelor of Science in Environmental Science from The Ohio State University, focusing on energy policy, energy markets, and sustainable business practices. During this time, Emily traveled to Costa Rica for a transformative Education Abroad experience, which shifted her perspective on global sustainability challenges and sparked her interest in small-scale energy generation and bio-energy systems. Emily’s senior capstone project involved conducting an economic analysis on fleet electrification for the City of Columbus.

Emily’s passion for exploring solutions to address the challenges of a rapidly changing energy landscape led her to the Renewable Energy and Sustainability Systems Master of Professional Studies program at Penn State University. Her studies include solar resource assessment and project development for utility, commercial, and small-scale energy systems, as well as large-scale wind turbine system development and performance. Emily focused the rest of her work at Penn State on understanding the complexities of energy policy, regulation, and markets.

During her master's program, Emily began working for Florida's Department of Military Affairs as an energy manager for the Florida National Guard (FLANG). She oversaw 80 sites, including Camp Blanding Training Camp, conducting energy audits and economic feasibility assessments for renewable energy and energy efficiency projects. Emily led projects on smart metering deployment and the Installation Energy and Water Plan (IEWP), which aimed to improve facility resilience. After her time with FLANG , Emily joined Battelle as an Energy Engineer researching projects for the U.S. Air Force that focused on developing novel energy generation and storage systems to ensure energy resilience and assurance for deployed airmen, especially in extreme conditions.

Emily is a proud resident of Pickaway County, Ohio, originally from Circleville, home of the famous Circleville Pumpkin Show, where she spends the 3rd week of October with family and friends. The other 51 weeks of the year she enjoys spending quality time with her partner, daughter, and three furry companions. She loves the outdoors and enjoys stargazing, hiking, kayaking, and camping. Emily is dedicated to fostering the next generation of scientists and engineers. She volunteers with the Ohio Academy of Science as a science fair judge and mentor, actively promoting STEAM careers to Ohio's youth.
