Matthew is a member of our embedded healthcare energy management team, advising our health care clients in the pursuit of energy, carbon, and cost savings. Before joining Go, Matthew was the Sustainability and Energy Coordinator and then the Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy Manager for a university in Ohio where he managed more than $900,000 in energy efficiency projects that manifested around $1 million in annual cost savings. Between undergrad and grad school, Matthew was an intern at Go, where he performed evaluation, measurement & verification site visits, analysis, and documentation for our utility efficiency rebate support team.
Matthew’s experiences provide him with an owner’s perspective of the challenges faced in the transition to a low-carbon and clean-energy society and he brings a broad knowledge base to our team. He is formally trained in composting operations and is a certified energy manager (CEM). Matthew has performed sustainability assessments, sustainability reporting, and he has advised and mentored dozens of students and student teams on energy and sustainability topics. He was on the oversight committee for the university’s Green Revolving Fund, where he developed projects within campus facilities and worked with other stakeholders to advise on project implementation.
Matthew received a Bachelor in Mechanical Engineering and a Master of Science in Renewable and Clean Energy, both from the University of Dayton’s School of Engineering. While a student, he was actively involved in the ETHOS program, which is dedicated to engineering immersion service projects around the world, where he performed research on solar thermal adsorption refrigeration. He was also a graduate research assistant in the Hanley Sustainability Institute, enabling him to co-author his graduate and post-graduate research on carbon lock-in and decarbonization pathways for universities.
Matthew is active in the Dayton, OH community, and volunteers his time with conservation organizations. He would love to be your tour guide to the Wright Brothers historical parks and the other amazing historical sites in the Dayton area. His love for animals brings him to volunteer with a group dedicated to low-cost veterinary care for cats and dogs in the Dayton area. He also enjoys exploring new cities and hiking through nature. Matthew can frequently be found during the workday in one of Dayton’s great local coffee shops!
